Colmore business district – three new directors

The three new non-executive directors are Hortons’ Estate chief executive Tony Green, Purnell’s owner Glynn Purnell and Trowers & Hamlins partner Amardeep Gill.

A Michelin-starred chef, the chief executive of a property company and a law firm partner have been appointed to the board of the Colmore Business District.

The three new non-executive directors are Hortons’ Estate chief executive Tony Green, Purnell’s owner Glynn Purnell and Trowers & Hamlins partner Amardeep Gill.

Hortons owns a number of buildings within the district, including the Grand Hotel on Colmore Row.

Tony Green said: “CBD makes a vital contribution to Birmingham. Having spent the last 14 years working in and promoting the district, I am delighted to be given the opportunity to join the board of the BID.”

Glynn Purnell set up his restaurant, which has retained its star in the 2015 Michelin Guide, on Cornwall Street in 2007 and subsequently launched Purnell’s Bistro & Ginger’s Bar on Newhall Street.

He said:

The district is a great leisure area as well as a hub for business. CBD’s programme of events and activities has really helped to promote this and to add to the vibrancy of the area.

I am excited to work with the board and team and help take forward current and future projects to improve the area.” Amardeep Gill heads up Trowers and Hamlins’ regional public sector practice from the firm’s Birmingham office on Colmore Row. He added: “I applied for the board director role in order to contribute towards how the area will develop in the future.”
